A stretchy scarf

It was Mother's Day a while ago (QUITE a while ago!) and my mum had been saying how chilly it was getting down in Canberra I thought I'd make a little scarf for her.

But I'm a bit of a fan of trying new patterns so I used this Morris and Sons pattern, called the Alexandria Cowl,  with some 8ply red wool and a smaller 2 ply black and grey wool. It reminds me of a concertina and I love how slinky and stretchy it turned out.


 I gave it to mum a few weeks ago but she didn't have a chance to take a photo of herself wearing it until the other day. Cute!

Knit, knit, lift, knit

It's not quite winter time outside yet, in fact not really even close. But I wanted to get the jump on this winter season but starting my knitting early. I've also got that habit of needing to knit when I watch tv or sit on the couch, my hands constantly need to be moving. Is anyone else like that?

When I saw the pattern for this Grecian Rib Knit scarf on purlbee I just couldn't go past it, it would be the perfect addition to my winter scarf wardrobe (currently consisting of an wrap from Indian, and a few silk scarves).

I chose a Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran yarn in this gorgeous deep red, to brighten up all the black that seems to get worn in winter.

This pattern is fantastic. I love how it comes out looking really chunky and thick and stands out in a crowd. Also LOVE the tassels. Clothing should have more tassels, don't you think?

One of the lovely lady from my brown owls groups made this delightful Martha Stewart neck tie scarf a while back and I loved it so much decided to make one myself. I used Noro wool and 4mm needles.
