In the post

Don't you love it when you order a book before it's officially out and then you forget about it and it arrives?
Excitement!

  1. So what's it like? Review with photos please. I pre-ordered the Collette book without doing a browse-through and was massively disappointed when it arrived because it had nothing of interest to me. Since then I haven't bought anything without browse-throughs and good reviews-pretty interested in how this turns out. I don't follow her blog because I'm not into that sort of style and the witter's not my thing either but it'll be cool if she has some contemporary patterns in there.

  2. Hasn't yet arrived, but should be here by next week. Will pop a review up then. I like her style but think I'll probably have to adapt some of the patterns to suit me.

  3. Oooh, might have to have a peek. Looks a great book. I've got a couple of old-school sewing bibles with pattern making guides that make Ikea instructions look like a child's first book of ABCs.

  4. I'll bring it in! I was so thankful to Colette Patterns for their simple, lovely instructions when I first started sewing. They helped me understand the basic construction of a dress and now I feel like I can tackle (almost) anything. I do have some old patterns that I look at the instructions and no matter how hard I squint they still don't make sense!

  5. I preordered mine too and was pleasantly surprised when it showed up at my door.
